RCC and RCC Auditions
  • Recreational Competitive Companies:

At Cary Dance Productions, we offer a unique opportunity for dancers who have a strong work ethic, are committed to their dance education, and love to perform.

Our Recreational Competitive Company strikes a balance between weekly recreational classes and our competitive level teams — a smaller time and financial commitment with the same amount of heart.

In addition to class attendance requirements, RCC dancers occasionally have rehearsals on the weekend, and are required to participate in several additional performances. These performances include the Cary and Apex Christmas Parades, our winter benefit show CREATE, one local dance competition, and our end of year Spring Recital.

We currently have three different RCC teams at our studio:

Junior RCC (for dancers ages 9-12)
Teen RCC (for dancers ages 13-14)
    Senior RCC (for dancers 15+)

All RCC dancers are required to attend a placement audition for the 2019-2020 season.

    Junior RCC AUDITION:
    Friday, May 17th: 4:15pm-6:15pm

    Teen/Senior RCC AUDITION:
    Friday, May 17th: 6:30pm-8:30pm

Click here for the 2019-2020 RCC Audition Form.
All dancers are required to complete this form as of May 1st, 2019 to be eligible to audition.

Ballet and Jazz auditions will determine placement and consideration for additional dance forms including: Musical Theater, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Acrobatics (if applicable).

The first portion of each audition will be structured as a Ballet class, focusing on barre exercises, across the floor, and center combinations demonstrating the dancers’ technique. The second portion of each audition be structured as a basic Jazz class, with a quick warm up, several basic technical combinations, and a final combination incorporating more advanced elements and style. Dancers will be taking class while being observed by a panel of judges and expected to perform each combination in small groups for evaluation. In addition to technical ability, judges will be watching for focus, work ethic, attitude, ability to take corrections, performance quality, appearance, and showmanship. While we do not expect perfection, we are looking for dancers with determination and potential!

The last portion of each audition will be for our TAP companies. Tap is optional for all RCC dancers. If you are interested in auditioning for tap, please indicate this on your audition form.

During the Tap portion of the audition, dancers can expect to demonstrate basic tap technique in a group warm up, individual demonstrations of tap steps (varied by age and level), and learning/performing a tap combination in small groups.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dancers auditioning should plan to wear leotard and tights. No loose clothing will be permitted during the Ballet/Jazz portion of the audition. Dancers should “look the part” — hair neatly secured, bright eyes, performance ready.  The better you feel, the better you’ll dance 🙂 Wear something you feel confident in.. add some extra shimmer – your judges will notice!

RESULTS will be emailed to each individual dancer after our end of year recital (June 8th). If you are not currently dancing in our CDP competitive company, you may receive your results earlier.

Should you choose to accept your position in our RCC Program, the following will be required:
    – All RCC dancers are REQUIRED to attend a mandatory company dance camp scheduled August 7th-11th. Specific times for each group TBA.
    – All company members must turned in a SIGNED COMMITMENT CONTRACT upon accepting RCC placement along their with your COMPLETE company camp fee (approximately $250-$350).
